  Reference Service

The first floor of library building has an exclusive reference section consisting of dictionaries, directories, handbooks, patents etc and is open from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm on all working days. First two copies of all the new titles added to the library collection are also stacked in reference section and are marked “R” and “Reference only” seal is marked on the due date slip for the benefit of its users. The reference collection also includes books on various competitive examinations, GATE, IELTS, SAT etc., and also general books.

  Referal Service

Providing information to users about another agency or library where his/her resources are available if our library does not have the same to meet the information need of the users.

  New Book Alerts

New Book Alerts is a current awareness service launched by PESIT-BSC Library to inform the users of the recent titles added to its library collections. Under this service, new book titles which are added to the library collections will be on display in the “New Arrivals” rack in the reference section of the library for a week. Also the list of newly added titles will be notified to its users via e-mail and a copy of the same will be displayed in the library notice board.

  Journals Table of Content Alert

To keep the users up to date in their field of specialization most of the publishers offer free e-mail alert for Journals Table of Contents. To receive the Journals TOC alert you are requested to register with the publishers by completing an online form and the publisher will notify you through e-mail when ever new issues of journals of your choice are published “Journal TOCs” created by Heriot-Watt University, (U.K) is the largest database which offers free table of content service for over 26,000 journals from more than 2,000 top publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Sage, Emerald etc. For free e-mail alerts from “Journal TOCs” database please log on to

  Web OPAC & Digital Library

The availability of library resources (such as books, periodicals, project reports, CDs/DVDs etc.) and full text of previous years question papers, syllabus copy, faculty publications etc. can be downloaded by logging on to using user ID and password provided by the library staff. Also the e-resources subscribed by our institution are IP enabled and can be accessed from anywhere within the campus.

  Reservation and Renewals

Books which are already lent out can be reserved online by logging on to and those books will be kept separately in the circulation counter for 2 days for each member. The reservation lapses automatically after 2 days and the next reserved person gets the chance.

The books should be personally brought to the library for renewals and no phone renewals are permitted.

  Internet Service

The library is completely wi-fi enabled with adequate number of computers to compliment and support the classroom teaching and requirements of its users.

  PhotoCopying and Scanning Service

In addition to private vendors in the campus, the library offers photocopying service to its users from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm on all working days at nominal charges. Students can also use the scanner available in the first floor of the library for academic purpose only with the permission of the librarian.

  E-Learning (NPTEL, VTU-EDUSAT Program, English Language Lab)

The library being a member of VTU-EDUSAT e-learning program airs lectures on various subjects conducted by VTU to its users in its exclusive VTU-EDUSAT room and the users can access NPTEL videos through our digital library. Also a system is exclusively dedicated to access NPTEL videos and OPAC search.

The library also has English language lab and caters to the needs of the students to improve their communication skills.

  Inter Library Loan

For the benefit of its users, the library offers inter-library loan service for the books that are not available in our library by procuring them from Developing Library Network (DELNET) and other libraries. The same should be returned back within one week of issue.

The Library has institutional membership with the following organizations for accessing their resources and services.

2. Indian Institute of Management Library, Bangalore (IIMB)
3. Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, Bangalore (CMTI)
4. Developing Library Network, New Delhi (DELNET).

  Plagiarism Check

To help the users to check for plagiarism content if any in their research work, project reports, doctoral thesis etc.,the institution has subscribed to plagiarism check software. Using this specialized plagiarism software contents from multiple file formats such as: DOC / DOCX / TXT / RTF /PDF / HTM / HTML / WPD can be checked. In addition to English, it also supports French, German, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic, and many other languages.

Students/faculties who wish to check for plagiarism content may please contact their respective HOD’s or the Librarian for User ID and Password.

  Print Journals and E - Databases

For the current year the library has subscribed to 67 national and 42 international print journals and the same is displayed in the first floor of the library. Under VTU Consortium library has subscribed to IEEE-IEL Online, Elsevier Science Direct, Springer CSE, E&E, and ME Collection, Taylor & Francis, ProQuest Engineering & Management Collection database, & K-Nimbus Digital Library and all these are IP enabled and can be assessed from anywhere with in the institution campus.

  Electronic Serveillance

As a security measure ten CCTV cameras have been installed in the library premises.

  ELITE Members

As a token of our appreciation and to encourage students to score more, three extra books are issued for students of UG program and two extra books are issued to PG students of all streams. The elite members can keep the books for the entire semester and the same must be returned after the term end examination.
